SESAME CHUTNEY

I like to have a dip for any kind of starter.. And i like sweet, spicy combo... So I make this way, if I have spicy starter will make a semi sweet dip and vice versa... So it's up to you to decide which option, makes your tummy feel light…
And i like to add curd in most of dip and dishes...So this recipe has a combination of curd, sesame and peanuts... This goes well as a dip and you can also use as a side dish for chapatti and dosa... I learnt this recipe form a cook book which I got from my library... I have tried kozhukattai and murukku with sesame, so this chutney is new and simple yet delicious one...

Ingredients:

White sesame - 1&1/2 tbs
peanuts - 1 tbs
Onion - 1
Garlic - 1
Ginger - small inch
Curd - 2 tbs
Sugar - 3/4 tsp
Lemon juice - 1/4 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/8 tsp
Salt - to taste
Olive oil - 1/3 tsp

To Temper:
Cooking Oil - 1/3 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/8 tsp

Method:

Dry roast white sesame and peanuts till it come's to light golden, take a kadai pour in olive oil and add onion, garlic and ginger.

Add in chilly powder and saute well till the chilly powder is coated well.

First grind roasted peanuts and sesame with little salt, then add in onion masala, curd and sugar.

Grind the mixture with little water to a smooth and thick paste, check for salt at this stage.
he

Take a small frying kadai pour in cooking oil, when oil is heated with small bubbles switch off gas and add chilly powder let it bubble for 2 mins. Then add chilly oil and lemon juice to the mixture and mix well.

Notes:

You can skip peanuts, and add in 1/2 tbs of sesame to the chutney. Add fresh curd and check for sourness.

You can skip the last step and add the full chilly powder to the onion mixture itself.

Take care when you dry roast sesame,if you dry roast to very darker color you will have bitter taste in chutney.
